Best Executive or Club Lounges in Chicago Hotels – Tips – Blog – Luxury Travel Journal

This article describes the hotels in Chicago that offer club or executive lounges to guests. By reviewing each of these club or executive lounges, I come to the conclusion which hotel has the best club lounge in Chicago.

Best club lounge in Chicago

When deciding which hotel to choose for your stay in a city like Chicago, it makes sense to consider the extra perks that a hotel club lounge offers. Offerings typically include free drinks and snacks throughout the day, breakfast in the morning, and cocktails with canapés in the evening.

Annoyingly, very few club lounges in Chicago offer free alcoholic beverages. The exception is the Ritz-Carlton, which contains alcohol. In the other lounges, the beers, wines, and spirits have to be paid for, but the food is free and tends to be filling and plentiful. Often the nightly food and drink offerings are more than enough to replace the need to go out in the evening, and it’s often worth paying to upgrade your room to a Club Room, or even paying a fee to gain access to include the Club Lounge with your stay at your chosen hotel.

The best club or executive hotel lounges can also provide an interesting environment for working and relaxing. Some lounges also offer dedicated meeting rooms, although I prefer to hold smaller meetings in the main lounge. When I’m traveling alone on business, I’m not particularly keen on sitting alone in restaurants. Room service is also on the lonely side, so a club lounge offers the ideal setting to enjoy good food and atmosphere while comfortably seated at a table for one.

I’ve compiled a list below that includes the club lounges available at luxury hotels in Chicago. I list the ones I think are the best at the top.

1. Ritz-Carlton Chicago Club Lounge

The Ritz-Carlton Chicago offers a club level and is one of the premier executive floors in Chicago. It is pictured above. Renovated in 2016, this brand new Ritz-Carlton Club® lounge is located in the city’s fashion mecca. The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago refreshed its suites and guest rooms and upgraded its fitness center in 2016.

The massive 2,600 square foot Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge is located on the 15th floor and offers breathtaking views including the historic Water Tower, the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan.

This club lounge includes alcoholic beverages (hooray!) including beer, wine, cocktails and spirits. It goes a step further with wine tastings and similar events. For example, guests of the Ritz Kids can take a look behind the scenes at the neighboring fire station. Business and leisure travelers can immerse themselves in Chicago culture and cuisine through local wine and brewery partnerships.

The Club Lounge offers five different food and beverage options throughout the day, from healthy breakfast options to hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and evening desserts.

The space itself is sophisticated, with walnut floors complemented by clean, modern walnut cabinets accented with blue, gold, and brown accents, all of which blend into the hotel’s ambience.

2. JW Marriott Chicago Club Lounge

As the most luxurious Marriott brand with Marriott in its name, you can expect great service Club Lounge at the JW Marriott Chicago. The executive lounge here is sleek and elegant, with windows along one side of the lounge. Meals include breakfast, snacks and drinks throughout your stay. While not the most inspirational in design, JW Marriott Club Lounges typically offer an excellent dining selection. For more details on what to expect, check out our review of the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Club Lounge in London.

Breakfast here is continental and reasonable. The evening menu is more impressive and enough to keep you full, and is very tasty with a variety of offerings including salads and hot pasta dishes. But ultimately, this lounge lacks atmosphere and while functional, it’s not one to linger in

3. Sheraton Grand Chicago Club Lounge

After the Ritz-Carlton and the JW Marriott, the Sheraton Grand Chicago Possibly the third best club lounge in Chicago due to its multi-story design with huge windows offering breathtaking city views. This lounge is also open all day and offers a complimentary continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres, and all-day snacks and beverages. It’s a great place to relax with two computer workstations, WiFi and TVs surrounding the lounge. Previously, I found the dining options at Sheraton Club Lounges, such as the Sheraton London Club Lounge, to be of less quality and variety than the offerings at the JW Marriott.

4. Hyatt Regency Chicago Club Lounge

the Hyatt Regency Chicago offers a Regency Club Lounge. You have access to this lounge if you book a Club King or Club Double room, or are a World of Hyatt Explorist (and use your voucher) or Globalist member.

This club opens at 6:30 am and serves breakfast until 9:30 am on weekdays and 10:30 am on weekends. It stays open all day for snacks, water, and sodas. In the evening, hors d’oeuvres are available from 6.30pm – 10pm.

Breakfast at this lounge is good and filling, and includes fresh fruit, smoked salmon, hard-boiled eggs, pastries, cereal, and a hot dish.

In the evening the offer includes fresh vegetables, cheese, meat, bread and a warm bowl of food. That’s enough to fill you up, but it’s not very generous, and you have to pay for any beer, wine, or cocktails you drink.

One of the perks of this Hyatt Regency is its central location, as you can walk to pretty much everything in town. It’s also central if you want to shop or dine out as there are many local restaurants within walking distance.

5. Lounge on the Executive Floor of the Hilton Chicago

The huge HiltonChicago enjoys views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding city. Diamond status members receive complimentary access to the Executive Lounge. Otherwise you have to pay extra for rooms on executive floor.

The lounge is on the second floor, so doesn’t have a particularly great view, but it’s modern and functional, if a bit uninteresting. Throughout the day you can enjoy soft drinks, coffee, mineral water, granola bars and nuts/pretzels.

Breakfast in the Executive Lounge is served from 07:00 to 10:30 on weekends and from 06:30 to 10:00 on weekdays. Warm egg dishes are available along with oatmeal, fruit, croissants and muesli.

Hors d’oeuvres are served from 5pm to 7pm, for example dumplings with soy sauce, adequate for dinner but not remarkable. This lounge reminds me more of an airport lounge than a place I would want to spend the day.

A notable feature of this Hilton is the gym and pool on the 30th floor, meaning you can jog on a treadmill with a view of the Chicago skyline.

6. Renaissance Blackstone Hotel at the Chicago Club Lounge

Chicago has three beautiful and historic luxury hotels; The Palmer House, The Blackstone and The Drake. Palmer House and The Drake are Hilton branded hotels. The Blackstone is a renaissance. Located on South Michigan Avenue, the Renaissance Blackstone’s historic architecture with high ceilings boasting intricate detailing and marble floors in the foyer give it a classic feel.

The Club Lounge is open for breakfast from 6:30am – 9:30am, hors d’oeuvres from 5:00pm – 7:30pm, dessert from 7:30pm – 9:30pm and closes at 10:00pm. The look is classic or dated (depending on your opinion) but the food offerings are extensive. Breakfast includes pastries, muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage, as well as healthy options like oatmeal. In the evening the chef goes crazy and offers different dishes every day. Dishes include tomato soup, grilled cheese or layered Mexican dip (guacamole, salsa, cheese, etc.), quesadillas, coconut chicken, egg rolls, and shrimp. There is also cheese, ham, salads and fruit. Dessert usually consists of cookies and bite-sized cakes and pastries.

Dining options are good at this Renaissance, but the lounge feels dated.

7. Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Club Lounge

This Marriott has one Club lounge which is open in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for snacks and drinks. It closes the rest of the day, which is frustrating when you’re looking for an alternative place to relax or work.

However, the breakfast buffet is excellent, with plenty of choice. You can also order additional items such as boiled eggs to your liking. Evenings at this lounge are less impressive, with only a small selection and probably not enough food to make a main meal.

8. Intercontinental Chicago

It’s worth noting that the Intercontinental Chicago doesn’t have a Club Lounge.
