Check out this Taylor Swift Midnight Rain Dance video

We now have moody choreography to match Taylor Swift’s Midnight Rain. choreographer Haley Messik of the renowned Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles recently developed a routine set to the heartbreaking sixth track from Swift’s latest album, Midnights. On Jan. 9, the dance studio shared a montage of several of its dancers nailing the moves.

While dances that go viral on TikTok are meant to be recreated, this choreography doesn’t look like it’s for beginners. For starters: The choreography begins standing, but quickly transitions into a floor routine after what are essentially single-leg squats. The dancers then begin with the splits and other floor work before getting back to their feet – in heels, mind you.

Messick often shares heel dance routines and tutorials Instagram. The dancer also previously appeared in Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 runway show choreographed by frequent Rihanna collaborator Parris Goebel. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude since this process began,” says Messick wrote after the show aired. “It was a privilege and above all an honor to be able to enter a room filled with so much inspiration and love every day.”

Interested in recreating Messick’s “Midnight Rain” steps at home? The sequence could be the perfect New Year’s challenge. Or just sit back and enjoy the (pretty spicy) choreography by watching the clip above.
