Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp opens up about his sexuality in a new TikTok. On January 5, the 18-year-old actor released a video about the moment he came out as gay to his loved ones. “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after 18 years of being scared in the closet, they just said, ‘We know,'” he wrote. The clip also shows Snap mouthing his voice to audio, “You know what it’s never been, so serious. It was never that serious. Honestly, it will never be that serious.”

Schnapp has been open about his Stranger Things character Will Byers being gay, he said in a July interview with diversity on the fourth season: “It’s pretty clear that Will has feelings for Mike this season. They’ve been pulling that out on purpose for the past few seasons… Now it’s 100% clear he’s gay and loves Mike.” The actor also supported GLAAD’s Together movement at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards when he made an ampersand in solidarity And band wore. However, this is the first time that Schnapp has publicly stated his sexuality. “I think I’m more like Will than I thought I was,” he captioned his new TikTok.

Also in his Variety interview, Schnapp said he hopes the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will have a “coming out scene” — maybe his new revelation will convince the writers to include that moment to both to reflect both the actor and his character’s journey.
