style & character

Rising to an impressive 56 floors, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong offers a peaceful retreat and panoramic views of the famous Peak and Victoria Harbor in the heart of Hong Kong. The hotel features 557 spacious rooms and suites, seven award-winning restaurants and bars, and is just a two-minute walk from Pacific Place Mall.

Designed by world-renowned French interior designer Tristan Auer, understated style and old-world elegance set the tone for the design of the refurbished rooms here, while modern amenities fuse with Asian aesthetics. Accompanying the design of the new rooms (see below), the guest corridors and elevator lobbies have been redesigned, with bespoke carpets, marble paneled corridors and warm mood lighting, giving guests a welcoming tone upon arrival.

The room concept brings a Parisian-sensitive and modern oriental approach to the design ethos of the new rooms. Inspiration was drawn from Hong Kong’s local architecture and culture, with a focus on ‘framing the view’, hinting at the diverse and vibrant landscape that can be seen from hotel rooms. The improvement project brought Auer the renowned Le FRENCH DESIGN 100 Award in 2022. Renowned for his global projects, Auer’s previous projects include the Cotton House, Mustique, the Hotel de Crillon, Paris, and the Orient Express, Bangkok.

Located on Level 50 through Level 52, the Horizon Harbor and Peak View rooms evoke the ambiance of a luxury residence; A custom-designed entrance stand greets guests upon entering with an inviting bud vase and umbrella stand, conveying an immediate sense of warmth and intimacy. A hallway lined with Verde Fiume marble in the Peak View rooms and Latte Onyx in the Harbor View rooms leads guests to the spacious rooms.

Horizon Harbor View rooms reflect the outdoor setting and are accented with hues of warm gray and duck egg blue, while plaques depicting the local landscape reflect the alternative view of the Peak. Overlooking Victoria Harbour, custom-designed cushioned day beds run the length of the Harbor View Rooms, offering guests a harmonious living space and the flexibility to accommodate families or additional guests in the room. A versatile desk that can be used for both dining and working, with an upholstered swing arm pendant above providing ample light.

Bathrooms feature hand-tiled walls in the separate bathtub and rain shower, enhancing the light and airy design with a vanity mirror, adjustable lighting and clock for guest comfort. A window into the bathroom from the bedroom floods the room with natural light, with a switch to frost the glass for privacy.

Horizon Peak View rooms are adorned with shades of green to reflect the tropical and lush views of Victoria Peak, while the leather-covered desk and chair complement the green-cushioned sofas overlooking the unobstructed view. Spacious bathrooms complete the new rooms with a separate washroom, spacious shower cubicle and cosmetic mirror.

John Masters Organics toiletries were chosen for the new Horizon rooms. Made from the finest natural and organic ingredients, the full-size bottles are available to guests throughout their stay or purchase and are in line with the Shangri-La Group’s focus on sustainability.

As technology is at the forefront of modern travel, wireless charging cables are installed in each bedside table for convenience. In suites and Horizon Harbor View rooms, sound bars allow guests to play music via Bluetooth, with speakers installed in each area of the guest room.

The refreshed Grand Premier City View and Peak View rooms on Level 39 and Level 40 complement the redesigned Library and Atrium event spaces on the same level. Perfect for business travelers, the streamlined rooms combine modern office essentials with the comforts of a luxurious home.

The design palette of these rooms is calming and soothing, with subtle hints of color and texture echoing the design of the atrium. These rooms offer a contemporary living space with multifunctional features and a Murphy bed that can be tucked away vertically to transform the room into a spacious meeting area. With the smart technology program, guests can control the lighting and temperature from idle to meeting mode with just a tap.

Located between Level 46 to Level 49, the Grand Premier Harbor View and Peak View rooms share the same color palette and offer unparalleled views of Victoria Harbor or lush greenery, along with in-room pantries, plush day beds and soaking tubs available to guests the ultimate stay experience.
